DIY Tutorial From a Catch My Party Member – DIY Cupcake Toppers Made of Chocolate

This post is not actually a tip from a Catch My Party member, but a tip from two member, Melissa and Kellie of Icing Designs, a company that specializes in hand-illustrated and hand-glittered invitations, cards, cupcake flags and gift tags.

Melissa and Kellie have added some exquisite parties to our site, and they have a great party design blog where they post many DIY tutorials.

They have graciously allowed me to repost my favorite — these DIY chocolate decorations for cakes or cupcakes. And wait until you see how remarkably easy they are to make.

Here’s what they said:

Of course we love cupcake flags, but sometimes the occasion might call for something a little different.

We love to use these super easy chocolate decos on cupcakes and cakes! They are so easy to make!
All you need to do is copy these designs into a word or publisher file and print them out, place a piece of wax or parchment paper over the print out and trace the designs with your melted chocolate!

If you would like to try these and can not copy the above template, just email us and we will send you one! icingdesigns@hotmail.com

So simple and so beautiful, thank you Melissa and Kellie!

To see more of their great parties ideas, visit their blog, Icing Designs, and also check out their invitations, cards, cupcake flags and gift tags at their Etsy shop.

(Do you have a DIY project from one of your parties that you’d like to share?  Please email me at jillian@catchmyparty.com.  I’d love to show it off!)

I love that I saw this. Who’s to say it has to be this template? I plan on making initials and how easy is it to print a pretty font! Thank you so much for the inspiration!!
