Duct tape is the new craze right now. It comes in a variety of sizes and colors, and can be used for almost anything.
So check out our duct tape cupcake toppers DIY where we show you how to make three different topper decorations: cupcake flags, mini cake bunting, and mini fridge toppers. Aren’t they cute… and sooo easy.
Supplies: (We’ve included affiliate links. These don’t cost you a thing, and help us bring you posts like these.)
- Mini duct tape roll in color and pattern of your choosing
- Scissors
- Tissue paper
- Toothpicks (you can also use lollipop sticks or paper straws)
- Bakers twine
- Hot glue
Duct Tape Mini Cake Bunting
Start by measuring your twine to the length you’d like your bunting to be. Fold twine in half to find the center. Cut a piece of duct tape. Place the center of the twine in the center of your piece of duct tape. Fold duct tape over twine. Trim by cutting a small triangle or half circle.
Repeat these steps to create a full bunting. Hot glue the toothpicks to the ends of the twine.
Duct Tape Cupcake Flags
Cut a piece of duct tape. Make sure it is long enough to fold in half and trim. Place toothpick in the center of the duct tape.
Fold duct tape over toothpick.
Trim triangle from the end of the duct tape.
Duct Tape Mini Fringe Toppers
Cut a piece of duct tape 24” long.
Cut a small strip of tissue paper and place on the duct tape right below the edge. Leaving some “sticky” portion of the duct tape visible.
Trim off excess tissue paper. The tissue paper makes it so the fringe pieces do not stick together.
Cut tiny strips on the tissue side of the duct tape.
Carefully roll the duct tape onto a toothpick.
Note: To make large fringe toppers use large duct tape. I used mini duct tape (inspired by swellmayde).
Super quick and easy! Don’t you just love finding new ways to use duct tape?
