Shauna Krantz, our new contributor, and the brains behind the beautiful Ella and Annie Magazine, is here with a homemade lip balm DIY!
There is just something soothing about all natural lip balm. I love it, my kids love it, and it makes the perfect gift or party favor! Made with beeswax, your favorite extract or essential oil, and coconut oil, it’s super simple to do. You can even tint with beet root powder or by melting in a piece of your favorite lipstick. I prefer the sheer gloss!
- Beeswax ( 2 oz bar found at Whole Foods )
- Organic coconut oil (****SUPER INGREDIENT!**** I eat this every day!)
- Vanilla, almond, or peppermint extract (you can also use essential oils)
- Olive or vitamin E oil
- Mini glass favor jars
Take 6 teaspoons grated beeswax and put it in a microwave safe bowl. Add 6 teaspoons coconut oil.
Heat for 1 minute and 25 seconds in microwave. Check to make sure wax is completely melted.
Add 1 teaspoon extract or oil. Mix well.
Pour into container and let cool until solid. You can tint with food coloring if you want.
The glass jars hold about 3.87 oz of lip gloss each.
Enjoy this all natural, soothing lip gloss year round and especially for the winter months. This makes the perfect baby shower, bridal shower, or spa party favor, or what a great homemade birthday gift idea!
