It’s that time of year when we start seeing the “You’ve Been Boo’d” signs showing up in our neighborhood. My daughter loves the tradition, especially the secret part… Who “boo’d” us? Whom did you “boo”?
For those who haven’t heard about it, it’s a fun way to spread the excitement of Halloween (and treats) among friends and neighbors. It’s a little like a chain letter mixed with Secret Santa, and it’s taking neighborhoods by storm!
Here’s a printable that explains the whole idea:
If you’re going to try it out this year, first print out our FREE “You’ve Been Boo’d” Halloween printable set designed by Michelle from Printabelle. It has everything you’ll need to pull off some successful “Boo’ing.”
For this year’s Boo buckets, I decided to create some pumpkin Halloween treat bags. I thought these would add a little anticipation because you get to rip open the pumpkins to see what’s inside.
Pumpkin Halloween Treat Bags
Supplies: (I’ve included some affiliate links. These don’t cost you a thing and help us bring you posts like this.)
- Orange tissue paper
- Black washi tape
- Halloween ribbon
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Rubber bands
- Black scrapbooking paper
- Candy and toys to fill
Directions:
Take two pieces of orange tissue paper and spread them out.
Cut the edges off to make it look more like a circle.
Fill with candy and toys… anything festive.
Start twisting the tissue paper until it comes together in a ball.
Secure with a rubber band, then cover with washi tape.
Shape to look like a pumpkin. Cut off the top.
Cut out jack-o-lantern eyes and mouths from the black scrapbooking paper. I cut these out freehand, but here’s a stencil you can use.
Glue the eyes and mouth onto your pumpkin and tie a ribbon at the top. And there you have it! Cute!
Now pack up your bucket and go surprise some neighbors!
And hopefully after a while, your neighborhood will start to look like this…
