Tips and Substitutions
- Make sure not to add too much oil to the melts, it gives the candy a waxy texture.
- You will get a smoother texture and better flavor if you use high quality white chocolate instead of candy melts.
- White chocolate can be prone to burning, so be sure to melt it slowly using intervals in the microwave.
- Choose any sprinkles you like to decorate such as nonpareils, jimmies, or sugar crystals, to add different colors and textures to your pretzels.
- Consider using different shaped pretzels in addition to pretzel rods: try traditional twists, but also consider using pretzel nuggets or mini pretzels.
If you don’t have white chocolate, try milk or dark chocolate, or any colored candy melts, like pink or red.
Try using less coconut oil.
Use high quality dark chocolate instead of candy melts or white chocolate.
Make sure to have a plan in place before coating the pretzels in chocolate so you can move even faster.
If you store them in the fridge, they can last up to a week.
